Just Sushi

With the rise in popularity of Japanese cuisine, the residents of Simon's Town and surrounds can thank their lucky stars for having Just Sushi right on their doorstep. Situated in the picturesque Simon's Town waterfront with splendid views of the yacht basin, it is one of those restaurants where you feel instantly at home and relaxed. This is due in part to the holiday-like atmosphere that exists in this quaint village, and also to the personal attention of owners Cathy and John Bedforth who will go the extra mile to ensure your meal is a memorable one.
The emphasis at Just Sushi centers very much on enjoying a leisurely evening out without feeling pressurized to vacate your table for a second sitting. It is therefore advisable to book for dinner from Wednesday through to Saturday to avoid being disappointed. The restaurant is fortunate to be positioned to take advantage of the views yet remain sheltered from the wind, and as such Cathy and John have plans to extend the outside seating which is always at a premium in the warm summer months. The compact interior has a small bar counter for those who wish to enjoy a drink whilst waiting for a table, and it is worthy noting that in addition to the traditional Saki, Just Sushi also stocks Japanese beer when available. The wine list offers a good variety of organic wines at very affordable prices.
At the other side of the restaurant is the Sushi counter which is presided over by head chef Alan and his assistant Jonny who are both of Cantonese origin. Together they work as an efficient team preparing everything on the spot to ensure your meal is absolutely fresh with nothing prepared in advance. Just Sushi uses only top quality imported Scottish Salmon, whilst the tuna, Cape salmon, yellowtail and squid are sourced locally. The Sushi set platters are excellent value and there is a wide choice of Sashimi and Nigiri as well as lots of options for vegetarians. The Combo Specials are highly recommended and are ideal for both the novice and seasoned Sushi fundi to enjoy together. The cherry on the top however, is that should one of your party not eat Sushi, John and Cathy will be happy to order in an alternate dish from another restaurant to keep their customers happy!
